Program Overview

The joint providership of Medical Education Resources and Focus Medical Communications presents the APP Obesity National Summit. This educational activity will enhance the knowledge, clinical competence, and interdisciplinary performance of APPs in the comprehensive prevention, diagnosis, and management of obesity and its associated comorbidities.

 

Target Audience:

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of APPs involved in the management of patients with obesity.

 

Educational Objectives:

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
 

  • Explain how obesity contributes to the development and progression of dysfunction across multiple organ systems, including but not limited to cardiometabolic, gastroenterology, hepatology, musculoskeletal, renal, respiratory, and endocrinology.

  • Identify and apply clinical tools and assessment strategies to evaluate obesity severity, related comorbidities, and individual risk factors beyond BMI.

  • Select appropriate, evidence-based treatment modalities – including lifestyle interventions, pharmacotherapy, and bariatric referral – based on individual patient profiles.

  • Integrate multidisciplinary care models by collaborating with a broad spectrum of healthcare professionals to optimize comprehensive obesity management and improve patient outcomes.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Medical Education Resources (MER) and Focus Medical Communications. MER is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Medical Education Resources has been authorized by the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 7.75 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Nurse Credit:

Medical Education Resources designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.75 ANCC nursing contact hours. Nurses will be awarded contact hours upon successful completion of the activity. This activity is designated for ANCC pharmacotherapeutic contact hours.
